Request for term-time absence

The Headteacher will only grant a leave of absence to a pupil during term time if they consider there to be ‘exceptional circumstances’.

There is no clear definition of ‘exceptional circumstances’ but if something happens that is out of the ordinary, unavoidable or unexpected, then this will be considered. A leave of absence is granted at the Headteacher’s discretion.

Any request should be submitted as soon as it is anticipated before the absence with the leave of absence request form along with your evidence to support the request.

School fines for unauthorised absence are changing from 19 August 2024.

The government (Department for Education) is introducing a new national framework for penalty notices which parent/carers must pay if they take a child out of school during term time.

Please make sure you read the up dated information here.
